EARTH DAY 2020

“The earth does not belong to us. We belong to the earth.”

In the sky-high peaks and goosebumbs giving valleys; in the splashing waterfalls and enticing water streams seeping like arteries; in the crimson clouds and in the coarse sand; in the magnanimous blue whales and in the microscopic creatures; in the freezing glaciers of Antartica and in the burning deserts of Africa; in the bent, blend of seven colours and the artistic paintings in the wings of a butterfly; in the infinite patterns of leaves and insects that camouflage leaves; in the hisses of a snake and in the roar of the Jungle King; in the slippery scales of fishes and in the razor sharp spikes of a porcupine; in the smell of the soil stirred by rain and in the soul satisfying aroma of ripening jack fruit- there is exquisiteness!! In all of it! Every inch of this only hostile planet known to man is filled with mysteries and insurmountable beauty.

It is nothing more than mere foolishness of the man to think he is superior to nature. Just because man decided to keep on feeding his ego, he is destroying rain forests for mining, digging deep bores for oil, exploding mountains for granites, excavating indigenous people for luxurious resorts, killing wild life for pleasure, dropping nuclear bombs to prove his dominance, stalking other people’s personal life in the name of technology, fighting in the name of religion, polluting the natural resources and what not?! It is this greediness of the man that has caused havoc in this planet. Since we ignored almost all the warnings of Mother Nature, now a 120 nano metre virus has shut down most of the human activities making us to pause, hold and reflect on the way of our living.

13 Daily Habits of Human Beings That are Killing the Environment ...

It’s high time to realize that our ship is sinking and we have to start fixing it. Not only in the times of crisis, but in every point of time we should learn to put our physical and mental health before our bank balance. We should learn to choose happiness over status, family over colleagues, friends over acquaintances, art and poetry over statistics and stocks, HUMANITY over everything else!

Even at this lock-down situation, it is so disheartening to see the leaders turning their back towards the working community. Lakhs of people migrated to their native lands on bare foot in the scorching sun! The small and medium enterprises are suffering from huge loss. The landless labourers and other migratory workers from different fields are stranded without employment whereas we are foolish enough to clap hands and light lamps. What is the use of lighting lamps, when our hearts are dark enough to protest against burying the bodies of doctors who died saving us? Once and for all we should stop allowing the politicians to play with our emotions and feelings and start thinking rationally.

Coronavirus lockdown: No migrant worker on road now, govt tells ...

At least after this lock-down we should appreciate the local goods and local people who have served us so far. We should learn to respect nature and other creatures. In this intricate web of life, we all are interconnected. What we give will always come back to us. So let us give away all the good, all the love, all the hope and all the positivism we have. When we go back to the normal life don’t forget-
  •  to buy things locally, to respect the sanitary workers and police men,
  • to fly kites,
  • to cook together,
  • to spend time with your family,
  • to paint,
  • to read books,
  • to up-cycle,
  • to use vehicles only when needed,
  • to sing, to dance,
  • to plant a seed,
  •  to love everyone without discrimination and
  • to LIVE!!
Let us use the sixth sense for taking care of the planet and for finding ways to destroy it. Because if we destroy the Nature we will lose our only home but if the nature decides to destroy us we will be replaced by some other species. Only when we stay inside our houses, we can witness all the other creatures rejoicing. The planet is healing, birds singing, air and water becoming clean, deer roaming on highways and turtles laying eggs peacefully on the shores. So it is better for us to sign the MoU with nature and correct our mistake before it’s too late. Let us revive our relationship with nature for ourselves and for our future generations.

10 Ways The Earth Is Healing From The Global Lockdown | 6 Minute Read

Let us be smart, be rational, be aware and be humane!! Let us create a green future together by reconnecting with Mother Nature.

“And when you, O human, will return to Nature, that day your eyes will open, you will stare straight into the eyes of Nature and its mirror you will see your image. You will know that when you hide from Nature, you hide from yourself. We who have been turned away from Nature- if we desire life, we must establish a new relationship with Nature.”
~ A.D.Gordan

We ought to celebrate earth and life each and every moment. Not just one day! All days are earth day!!
